My mental health practice is guided by principles-based counseling (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Method_of_levels). As humans we are controlling. We control attempting to get what we want. And we control attempting to avoid what we don’t want. We communicate and interact with others who are also controlling. When we are not in conflict with others we know how to help ourselves without hurting others. This is principles-based living. When we don’t act or live accordingly, crisis or chronic conflict erodes communication and relationships. We can restore healthy practices to strengthen our identity and confidence to work with others both at home, school, work, and community.
Beginning with our first or second session, we will focus on your most important goals and how you want to proceed. I view counseling as a consulting partnership between us. You define the problem areas to be worked on. I use my knowledge and experience to help you to make the changes you want. Counseling requires your active involvement to align your practice with your principles. I will work with you to accomplish your goals in a timely and effective manner.
